Farm Flavor Media is a division of Journal Communications Inc., founded in 1988 by an investor group that included Pulitzer Prize winner Alex Haley, author of Roots, and Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Robin Hood.

The words “Find the good – and praise it” were printed at the bottom of Haley’s pale yellow personal stationery. It predated his connection to Journal Communications, but his words perfectly fit our growing business of telling stories about places and people with distinctive photography and compelling editorial content. We soon adopted the phrase as our company mission statement and it’s prominently displayed in the Journal Communications office.

Today, Journal Communications Inc. operates three divisions: Livability Media, Farm Flavor Media and Journal Communications Travel Publishing. Each division’s custom publishing programs leverage the timeless power of print and connect it to digital content delivery.
